I have wanted to make some fuzzy bears beanies for what seems like forever and I thought now is as good a time as any. Yeah, I know it's like 103 where I live, but here's to the future and the cold the winter brings. But for today let's celebrate the fact that hibernation is over and Bear's are out to play ;)

CommentEver since the movie the Bucket List came out I have had these thoughts about what would be on mine. I haven't actually written anything down...which I know is part of the process, but seeing as I don't have to many at the moment its okay ;)
One of the things that I've wanted to do is donate my hair to locks of love. And I wanted to do it before I started going grey. Reason being I have never colored my hair except for once in 1998 when I put some highlights in and never kept them up. I love the color of my hair (vain I know) and my biggest fear is finding the color to match once the inevitable happens. This is where Locks of love comes in. For some reason I thought you could only donate untreated hair so I figured this is the time to donate, ya know before the coloring starts, but I was wrong. They take just about every kind! That was nice to find out ;)
Well, anyway, with my business I get a lot of customers wanting hats as gifts for those who have lost their hair ie cancer, disease, etc. And I always feel so blessed to be able to help in some small way, but I wanted to do more. And Locks of Love was the perfect answer. So I placed it on my bucket list and started to let my hair grow. And beleive me it was way to long for me...I was going crazy! I don't know how people do it. My last straw was when the wind was blowing like crazy and I went to get in the car and after I shut the door found it was caught in the door...ouch! I am happy to say that I was able to check something off of my Bucket list ;)
So here is the before...
I must say I love it!! It is so easy and so much faster to do. I have the thickest hair on the planet and it would take forever to blowdry now it's all of 5 minutes and I am in Heaven!! Who knew ;)
Baby in a Bucket
1 CommentI had the pleasure to make some more hats for
and I am tickled pink with how they turned out!! I just love how this one turned out...
and as one of friends recently said...wouldn't it be nice if babies showed up like that and we were able to skip the whole pregnancy/birth thing. At least for me...not the fondest memories for me, but absolutely love the final result ;)
Here are the rest...what do ya think?

Scouting
2 CommentsWith Bryce turning the big "8" he is now able to attend scouts. He has been so excited to go...especially when I was called to be a cub scout assistant. Every time I told him about our activities his eyes would light up and he would ask how long until he would get it go.
The day finally came and after outfitting him at the scout store (who knew that was going to cost so much) we headed to scouts. He had so much fun being able to hang out with the other boys and just do boy things. Being sandwiched between the girls can get a little to "girly" for him sometimes. Not that he complains or anything. After the activity he was so pumped up and excited that he came right home and started working on his Bobcat award. Needless to say he passed it off that night which meant I would experience my first pack meeting.
I have only been in Scouts for a few months, but every time a pack meeting would roll around I had prior engagements that I couldn't get out of. Added to the fact that I had no brothers growing up the scouting world is a whole new experience every time I attend. With Bryce, and the rest of the family in tow, we arrived at the church just in time. And I must say we all had a lot of fun. Our Cub Scout Master is such a hoot and I just love her!!! She made the whole thing so much fun and Bryce was all smiles! When it came his turn to be welcomed into the pack she really made him feel special and he was all over that!
Then it came time for him to be awarded his Bobcat and that was awesome! As his leader I got to help with the painting of his face...
and then stay up there so that he could pin me! That was a fun little surprise for me!!
I must say that I don't really understand the whole scouting world yet, but I'm starting to see how it really effects these boys for the better...especially Bryce! He needs this and everything that it can offer. So yay for the scouting program and all the fun years ahead of us!!!
